The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra wants to treat you to a free livestream of Beethoven’s Symphony No.7 tonight

The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra continues to keep the music going with a free livestream of the MSO performing Beethoven’s 7th Symphony conducted by Benjamin Northey tonight at 7.30pm.

Given that music follows laughter very closely as the very best medicine for all manner of ailments, we think this is fantastic!

Following on from a successful livestream on Monday night, which was viewed by almost 50,000 people around the world, the MSO invites you, music-lovers, to join the MSO YouTube channel for this special event.

In response to the coronavirus measures taken by the Federal and Victorian State Government on live audiences and mass gatherings, the MSO is working to livestream additional performances over the coming weeks.

MSO Managing Director, Sophie Galaise said that during these uncertain times, we must keep the music going. ‘At the MSO, we have chosen to transform a big challenge into an opportunity and go forward with livestreaming. This initiative to Keep the Music Going ensures our musicians are playing and our audiences are engaged online. We are looking at new ways to perform with smaller-sized ensembles of the orchestra to provide a variety of beautiful musical experiences until we are able to welcome audiences back to the concert hall,’ said Ms Galaise.

Beethoven’s Symphony No.7 will be livestreamed on the MSO’s YouTube channel at 7.30pm on Thursday 19 March 2020.

Stay tuned to MSO’s social media platforms for updates on upcoming livestreamed concerts and more.
