In Tune: an MSO Music Marathon for the Queen’s birthday

Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s musicians will make a return to the online stage for MSO’s Music Marathon, a half-day event of fine music on the Queen’s Birthday holiday.

This special event will feature a full program of livestreamed chamber music and a collection of recent MSO concerts.

Headlining the MSO Music Marathon will be the recent world premiere collaboration of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, with Circa Contemporary Circus, performed in February 2020. Other performances include Beethoven’s 6th (arranged for virtual orchestra) and 7th symphonies as well as his Septet, Vaughan Williams’  The Lark Ascending (arranged for string sextet, featuring concertmaster Dale Barltrop), Peter  Sculthorpe’s String Quartet No.18, Vivaldi’s Winter from The Four Seasons featuring MSO violinist Anne-Marie Johnson, and Danish String Quartet’s Last Leaf.

This online event is to bring people together, from their homes, to celebrate music and each other. – MSO Managing Director, Sophie Galaise

The MSO Music Marathon will be held on Monday 8 June from 2-8.30pm on the MSO’s YouTube channel. Visit The MSO Marathon’s website for more detailed program, or see below.
