Tune. New Sounds for the Weekend: 18 Mar

Happy Friday! It’s time to crack a cold one.

Baauer: Temple feat. M.I.A. & G-Dragon

Love, love, love – subtly hardcore, meditative rap. Play on loop. M.I.A. is everything.

Ladyhawke: A Love Song

We’ve felt every moment of Ladyhawke‘s absence from music. Her new album Wild Things is due out on 3 June. It’s been four years in the making, and was entirely written and recorded in LA with  Tommy English. Ladyhawke will tour the UK in June, performing in Bristol, Glasgow, Manchester, Brighton, London and Nottingham. For tickets, click here. Look out for the cute merch she’s selling, too (clue: picture at top). Rated ‘yes’.

Σtella: Works for You

Σtella a.k.a. Stella Chronopoulou is a pop singer-songwriter/painter from Athens. Works for You is the first single from her new album, due out this year via Inner Ear Records in Greece. Oddly this song made me think of Natalie Merchant’s Carnival (c. 1995. Yes, I had the CD single) – strange because the genres are different, but the vocal sound is similar. Listen for touches of First Aid Kit too.

Domo Genesis: DAPPER feat. Anderson .PAAK

DAPPER is the new song and collaboration by L.A. rapper Domo Genesis and Anderson .PAAL. His new album Genesis will be out at the end of the month, and features guest spots by Tyler, the Creator, Mac Miller, Wiz Khalifa, Juicy J, Anderson .Paak and more. Give it time to rev up. It’s awesome.

Black Cab: Uniforms
