There are no words to describe Fitzroy on a Friday night. The place is abuzz as everyone rushedly makes their way to social freedom. On this occasion, the destination was Alcaston Gallery to bear witness to pleated brilliance from three of Melbourne’s finest design talents, Kara Baker, Alice Edgeley and Nevada Duffy.
The best thing about this VAMFF Offsite Runway event was the range of models in age, body shape and career achievements. Each strutted their stuff with all the sass of strong women in charge. The designs were splendid, from Chanel-esque structure to truly freeing flamboyance in the form of Edgeley’s pleated powder pink cape, which was easily my favourite. What an utter joy to be amongst some of my favourite style mavens and gentlemen, each cheering the designers and models on, creating the best kind of atmosphere and appreciation.
