The Haitian born, Montreal raised producer delivers elements of what I loved about Frank Ocean‘s debut album Channel Orange, gentle JT-esque melodies along with the good rap styles (definition: Drake on point and Kendrick Lamar when he’s not impossibly monotonous).
KAYTRANADA mixes hip hop with funk, disco and electronica so well that it puts you in some kind of sassy fever.
KAYTRANADA’s sound brings an undeniable swing of the drums comparable to Dilla’s, a signature soulful touch in the melodies, and a healthy dose of funky bass lines.
