Band Of Horses have announced that long time friend Gareth Liddiard of The Drones will perform as a special guest at their July shows in Melbourne and Sydney.

Gareth Liddiard of The Drones will support Band of Horses with a world-first, retrospective performance, specially commissioned under the name of of Gareth Liddiard’s MK-Ultra. The show will see him reinterpret songs from The Drones’ extensive back catalogue, as well as songs from Liddiard’s solo album Strange Tourist.in a style that’s describe as lighter on the bombast and heavier with the melody and atmospherics. Says Band Of Horses’ Ben Bridwell,
“I love The Drones more than is healthy. They help me to question everything around us, and look for deeper questions beneath the obvious answers. I have no higher compliment for any other band in the entire world. The Drones are my favorite band.”
The Drones toured with Band Of Horses in the US about ten years ago and they’ve remained great friends ever since. Liddiard said, “I thought it would be fun to do something a bit different, so we put together a thing called MK-Ultra so we can play with them again.”
“It’s going to be a weird, spacey, stripped down version of The Drones and my solo stuff… and maybe a cover or two.”
Don’t miss Band Of Horses in July, and listen to their brand new, critically acclaimed new album, Why Are You OK.
