A limited season of Yohji Yamamoto’s stirling documentary will screen at ACMI during Melbourne Fashion Week (or ‘M/FW’ in style algebra).
‘Dressmaker’ offers an intimate portrait of the life and work of Yohji Yamamoto, one of the most influential and enigmatic fashion designers of the last forty years, unveiling a fascinatingly complex life story of this visionary 74 year-old Japanese craftsman.
The film sheds light on his artistic approach and creative working process, as well as how he sees the Fashion industry today and how that impacts on Japan and the world.
As a bonus, ACMI will host a panel discussion, Enigmatic Genius – unpicking Yohji Yamamoto as part of their program of screenings and events for Melbourne Fashion Week 2017.
