As part of the Victoria Design Program, Melbourne Design Week 2018 will descend on the National Gallery of Victoria and satellite locations around Melbourne from 15 – 25 March, 2018.
The program includes talks, exhibitions, studio tours and a host of industry events, which is most exciting for those wanting to explore beyond the usual ‘confines’ of Melbourne’s regularly extraordinary arts program.
The major theme, Design Effects will explore how design delivers change for people and the environment. And, this year the program introduces the Victorian Design Challenge in partnership with VicHealth, inviting the Victorian design community to team up with different sectors to create design solutions that motivate and encourage young people’s resilience and wellbeing.
Minister for Creative Industries Martin Foley said, ‘Melbourne Design Week… is about showing what good design can achieve – for individuals and communities, for businesses and for our society as a whole.’
Melbourne Design Week strives to connect creativity and design with business and communities around Melbourne and Victoria. Events throughout the week will be held at NGV International, NGV Australia and partner venues throughout the city.
