An 80s street party, with puff paint & $1 cheeseburgers will be hosted by Barkly Square 7 – 9 September.
The street party kicks off on Friday 5 – 10pm, the centre affectionately dubbed, ‘Sparkly Bear’, will enter a time warp offering a ‘Cocktail & Dreams’ style bar, ‘80s tunes from DJ Joey Lightbulb, good food, flash dances, neon brights and more.
For those in need of additional sprucing, an ‘80s style hair and make-up studio will offer free beautification sessions, plus there will be an open photo booth to show off your best 80s poses.
A host of craft workshops will run for kids and adults Saturday and Sunday 10am – 3pm with ‘80s tunes pumping all weekend. For kids, hula hoop sessions will run throughout Saturday.
Barkly Square was built in 1983 and welcomes almost 8 million customers through its doors every year.
The Program
Friday 7 September 5pm – 10pm:
- Bar with 80s style cocktails – DJ Joey Lightbulb pumping out the 80s hits!
- Free 80s Hair + Makeup services
- Dress up + take a selfie with the photo wall
- Free 80s Arcade games (all weekend)
Saturday 8 September 10am – 3pm:
- Free all day workshops with The Windsor Workshop feat. 80s badge making + DIY Memphis Mugs.
- Free Hula Hoop classes + activities with Hoop Sparxx (registration required)
- Free 80s Arcade games (all weekend)
Sunday 9 September 10am – 3pm:
- Free all day workshops with The Windsor Workshop feat. Hand Made Scrunchies + Puff Paint Totes.
- Free 80s Dance + Aerobics classes with Miss Clarissa + 80s hens (registration required)
