It starts in complete darkness, with an intimidating onslaught of the singular violin sounds of the Requiem For A Dream soundtrack filling the space. Gradually the lights turn up slightly (to moody), and from the monochromatic set with its fabric walls depicting couches and chairs, inspired by Diana Vreeland’s sitting room, 90s model Erin O’Connor emerges to open the show.

Here’s what happens next:

Sleek lines, darkest plaids with sequined panels encircling the body. Long leather gloves and glossy boots. Sheer chiffon tunics and tulle skirts with sequin detail beading, leopard skin and gun-metal embellished coats.

Beaded tutus, navy and chevron textured fur capes with floor sweeping black dresses.

So far the show conjures up Mary Poppins (by night), dark streets stalked by Jack the Ripper, and the unrelenting violin soundtrack arrests the viewer with fear and full attention.

There are wet-look pleat skirts in caramel, scarlet, black, bottle green, gray, and bronze, worn with slash sequined blazers, and over size collars, blanket check coats with sleeves of striped fur.

Fabrics in snake skin, the darkest brown, and rich maroon continue to march up the runway to a plucking violin staccato.

Pleated apricot floral skirts with a sequined black V-neck vest, and a long black coat (spot Kendall Jenner), provides a contrast between pretty and punk.

The full-length sequin front dresses are balanced with ribbon ties over sheer chiffon backs.

Delicate dresses with over-size diamante encrusted flower details, sit beneath heavy floor length coats in the blackest black, creating a balance of darkness and light.

The softest lace dresses in cream and blush with large sequin flower detail are worn with long ivory gloves of leather. Long, lean silhouettes continue with full length coats in burgundy shimmer.

The music finally implodes and continues to impose upon the viewer throughout the full model army re-cap, with an appearance by the wonderful Marc Jacobs, and a standing ovation to finish.
