At just seventeen, and barely taking a breath after touring with Miami Horror this month, Brisbane’s own JOY. will release her EP Ode this Friday. It’s a stunning selection of tracks laden with her trademark ethereal vocals and dreamy pop beats, all self-produced by JOY. (or Olivia McCarthy of Brisbane, QLD).
There’s much for JOY. to high-five about this year, after touring with the likes of Tkay Maidza, Dustin Tebbutt and The Kite String Tangle, and she looks forward to appearing at next month’s BIGSOUND music conference in (you-guessed-it) Brisbane.
Of her debut EP, JOY. said,
“Over a week in May I locked myself in my studio consuming only coffee and doughnuts, and these long nights resulted in me making a lot of whack shit. Out of the abundance of beats, material and ideas that I’d collected over the past few months, I found a common thread and felt like these four tracks told a good story from start to finish.”
