Your Invitation to preview Nevada Duffy at Edgeley + The Patch that you need right NOW

Alice Edgeley has announced that she will stock the new Nevada Duffy Winter collection.

Nevada Duffy, a Melbourne fashion designer whose vision of modern minimalism is infused with toughness and fluidity, creates structured silhouettes that are quietly self assured and glamorous. When I ask how Edgeley how she discovered Duffy’s work, she explains that she used to work with Duffy, and then years later she worked for her. But, she says, ‘I love her cutting. Nevada’s pattern making is impeccable, and every pattern piece is so beautifully shaped, it could be hung on the wall as a piece of art.’ For Alice, the main design appeal definitely sits with the ‘shoulders’. She says, ‘Nevada makes killer jackets. But they’re also quite grown up and chic, which is a great contrast to my own designs, and I think they work well together.’

‘I just love Nevada’s work. Its timeless, beautifully finished and all quite her own style. I have a top made from scarves which I bought from Nevada 15 years ago and it’s never gone out of fashion.’

‘I usually stock local brands with locally made products.’

Edgeley proudly stocks a select few things she really wants to wear herself. She says, ‘a lot of thought goes into how brands will work in the shop, how they work together, and how they will work on all my different customers. I have Tusler leather bags and belts – Hannah Tusler has become a good friend, but I first met her because I used to admire her lipstick when she worked up the street. And, Doodad & Fandango perspex jewellery – it’s big,  bold and bright. What more could you want? I usually stock local brands with locally made products, though I do make exceptions. For example, coming soon is a small range of clever cat and tiger silk scarves from UK based brand Cleo Ferin Mercury.’ From her own label, Edgeley has in stock some new Cut and Patch shirts made from mismatched vintage fabric which has been over printed with her poodle and pumps design, and finished with an exaggerated, long collar. And this patch, my friends, is everything.

‘Edgeley patches are made to sew onto your leather jacket, or anywhere really. I’ve sewn them onto some little cropped grey wool school jumpers for the shop. I love school uniforms! Chrissy Amphlett all the way.’
