It’s unfortunate what happens to Kate Moss in Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie, really, but the event pushes Eddy and Pats into the media storm of their dreams, throwing the spotlight over their self-perceived glamour, the high life they lead – shopping, drinking and clubbing, even now.
For the soundtrack, Kylie Minogue recorded her interpretation of the Absolutely Fabulous theme song ‘This Wheel’s On Fire’, and as a huge fan of the TV show, she was thrilled to do it. Originally written by Bob Dylan and Rick Danko, the theme became synonymous with the show and was first recorded by Julie Driscoll and Adrian Edmondson, then Deborah Harry and Edmondson.
Along with Kylie, the soundtrack includes pop gems from Jason Derulo, Paloma Faith and La Roux; classics from Serge Gainsbourg, Nancy Sinatra and Leonard Cohen; and live cast recordings of some of the film’s most memorable musical moments.
Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie is released by Fox Searchlight Pictures in Australia August 4th. Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie – The Soundtrack will be released on CD and digital formats.
