Melbourne-based Australian singer-songwriter Lisa Mitchell announced on Tuesday that her third album Warriors, will be released on Friday 14 October.
Mitchell’s utterly sweet new single, The Boys, premiered on triple j breakfast and shows a marked evolution the songwriter’s sound. For the new album the singer did away with a lot of guitar and piano sounds, putting it down to ‘dancing more in life’. The video was directed by Luci Schroder and shot in Lisa’s hometown of Albury NSW.
Of the new album, Mitchell says,
‘This album is personal. There’s a lot of thinking about my own kind of mythology – of myself, my life, why things are the way they are. And a lot of it is to do with childhood.’
And Mitchell’s childhood wasn’t so long ago. Though about to release her third album at 26, Mitchell’s debut EP was released when she was just 17.
To coincide with the release of The Boys, Lisa will perform live with her new band on a handful of dates with American indie big names Grouplove in Sydney and Melbourne this month.
