Teeth & Tongue: Turn, Turn, Turn
To ease you into the weekend, Turn Turn Turn from Melbourne band Teeth & Tongue is first because it reminds me of the best of Stevie Nicks, Kim Wilde and The Motels-ish. It’s wonderful! They’re touring their new album Give Up On Your Health throughout Sept and Oct. They’ve also just announced an instore performance at Polyester Records, Brunswick St, Melbourne (Free Show) on Sunday 5th September at 6pm est. This line up is the epitome of my dream supergroup. This track goes straight to the top of my pile for the year, and I’ve only heard it twice. Actually, the whole Suicide Squad film soundtrack is pretty great. Stream it now.
Banks & Steelz: Giant
Seriously, RZA’s vocal on this track is the most arresting and emotionally charged rap delivery I’ve heard in years. And I know hip hop. [end] Oh…
Giant is from the forthcoming album Anything But Words by Banks & Steelz, which is a musical brain child of Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA and Interpol’s Paul Banks.
Thrash this track at the gym. I can’t wait to (actually get to the gym).
Anything But Words will be released on 28 August and features appearances by Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine, Kool Keith, and Wu-Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah, Method Man, and Masta Killa.
Låpsley: Operator (DJ Koze remix)
This track is a pure Disco EMERGENCY. Lapsley has been a word-of-mouth dancefloor phenomenon over the summer (everywhere other than Australia), and DJ Koze’s much talked-about extended disco edits of Låpsley’s ‘Operator’ recently got a full release via XL Recordings / Remote Control.

After five years of silence, French electronic duo Justice have returned with Safe And Sound, a brand new track to celebrate summer, with their signature choral chorus, and the fattest bass line I’ve heard in recent memory. Gioumourtzina: Chrysostomou Smyrnis (Larry Gus remix)
Don’t worry, I can’t even start to pronounce this one until we get to the ‘Larry’ part. This moody and partly industrial remix was sent to me from my friends at Inner Ear Records in Greece. Gioumourtzina recently released their debut album Blakk Metall. Five tracks from the album were remixed by Greek electronic producers. This is slow burn TUNE. Turn out the lights and sway.
MSTRKRFT: Runaway
Canadian electronic duo MSTRKRFT, aka Jesse F. Keeler & AL-P, recently release their first album in 7 years, called OPERATOR. Runaway, is the lead single from the album.
For the Runaway video, Canadian director Brooks Reynolds wanted to capture new arrival Charlton Diaz on a dance-capade through rundown downtown Toronto.

Here is this week’s curve ball. Do you like it, or is it just the pineapples in the video that got me? I think it might be a sun soaked, cocktail addled walk on the beach. Perhaps it will be played at full volume on some Caribbean cruise ship?
