In her new song, Charlotte OC sings over and over… ‘Let the love begin’. I say, let the weekend begin, let the Spring begin, let the sleep-ins begin. Let the….ugh, you get it.
Charlotte OC: Black Out
U.K. artist Charlotte OC has just released Blackout – it’s a stunningly wistful track that is available to buy/stream now. The young singer and Blackburn native has been busy in the studio writing and recording the follow up to her 2015 breakout EP COLOUR MY HEART.
DJ Shadow feat. Run The Jewels: Nobody Speak
Legendary producer DJ Shadow has released the politically daring video for ‘Nobody Speak’ featuring Run The Jewels. It depicts a meeting of leaders that quickly descends into chaos, a scene not unlike what is really happening in the world. It also features cameos by DJ Shadow and Run The Jewels. DJ Shadow said that they wanted to make a positive, life affirming video that captures politicians at their election-year best, but instead, what you see, is what they got. The video was directed by Sam Pilling and produced by Pulse Films, stars Igor Tsyshkevych and Ian Bailey, and was shot in NYC, London and Ukraine.
Låpsley – Operator (DJ Koze Radio Edit)
So obsessed am I with this song and new video, that I emailed it directly to the music director at JOY 94.9 FM, an iconic queer radio station in Melbourne. It deserves its place as an anthem of 2016, and even without my help has become a word-of-mouth phenomenon, lighting up dance floors around the world. The video is full of trannies and disco music. Take me there. Leave me there.
Vancouver Sleep Clinic: Lung
Lung is the first track from Australian artist Vancouver Sleep Clinic‘s forthcoming debut album. The track is accompanied by an animation created for the song by artists Pandagunda and Pilar Zeta.
Tim Bettinson, the creative force behind Vancouver Sleep Clinic, is a singer, songwriter and producer from Brisbane whose latest work, including Lung was written while on a break from touring in Cambodia and the Philippines, a life changing adventure that managed to absorb itself on to the album.
EZTV: Reason to Run
Reason To Run comes from EZTV’s upcoming release, High In Place out Friday 30 September. Happy indie weekender to you. This could not be easier to listen to.
Dorsal Fins: Sedated
Sedated is lifted from the forthcoming album Digital Zodiac which comes out Friday 28 October 2016. Dorsal Fins’ Jarrad Brown, the man behind the lyrics to Sedated had this to say about it:
“When the sun slinks way too low, and the stars forget to shine, and you need a cryogenic sleep chamber to knock you out and wake up somewhere a 1000 years in the future… you write a song like Sedated.. and then you feel better.”
Beach Slang: Punks In A Disco Bar
Beach Slang‘s very quick follow up to 2015’s phenomenal debut album The Things We Do to Find People Who Feel Like Us will be released on 23 September. It’s called A Loud Bash of Teenage Feelings. You can read more about it here. Punks In A Disco Bar is shaping up to be one of my favourite songs of the year, and the video is excellent.
Miike Snow: My Trigger
I have been utterly obsessed with everything this band has done all year. <end of transmission>
