Tune. New Riffs for the Week: 14 Oct

We come for the riffs. These are best played with overt enthusiasm on that volume dial (but who really uses a dial anymore?). Lovers of the punk/rock/metal, I salute you with a daylight fist pump.

Parkway Drive: Bottom Feeder

Bottom Feeder offers an up-close look at Byron Bay-based metal band Parkway Drive’s fiercely energetic live show. They formed in 2002 and have released four studio albums, all certified gold in Australia. For more than a decade, the band has stood at the forefront of heavy TUNES worldwide. \nn/

Declan McKenna: Isombard

The video for Isombard features on the road diary visuals shot in Kansas City last August.  Interspersed with footage by Declan and his band across the US, it provides a frantic peek into life on the road – Declan’s existence over the past twelve months.

Birds of Tokyo: Brace

Brace is the first single from the band’s forthcoming album Brace, out on 4 November. This is quite a moody sound for BoT, last I heard  from the band was more of a sing-along ballad vibe. We love where they’re going with this new material. Pre-order the album and get new single now.

The Hard Aches: Gut Full

Here’s the new video for Gut Full from Adelaide slacker punks The Hard Aches, who are currently touring Australia. I just think they sound like Tim Rogers caught in a punk rock moment, which is a great moment to have never lived before.

The Hard Aches are currently on their I Freak Out EP Tour. See dates below.

Sleigh Bells: It’s Just Us Now

Sleigh Bells (Derek Miller and Alexis Krauss) are about to release their first new album in three years, Jessica Rabbit. The video for the album-opening track ‘It’s Just Us Now’, was directed by Derek Miller.

Jimmy Eat World: Sure and Certain

Sure and Certain is the first single from the band’s soon to be released  album, INTEGRITY BLUES. Of the track, Jim Adkins lead singer and guitarist of Jimmy Eat World explains,

“The song is about how limiting your own ideas for perfection can be. That, in constantly gunning with blinders on for achieving your ideal expectation, you are limiting your ability to appreciate all the things surrounding you in the present.”

Society of Beggars: An Angel Called Night

Melbourne via Adelaide rock four-piece Society Of Beggars have spent most of 2016 locked away in the studio working with renowned rock n roll producer Lindsay Gravina on their forthcoming EP. This is the first single.
