A fashion parade starring adorable dachshunds will take over the NGV’s Great Hall on Monday to kick off the hugely popular annual NGV Kids Summer Festival in style.
Running in conjunction with NGV summer blockbuster shows David Hockney: Current and Viktor&Rolf: Fashion Artists, the dachshund parade is a playful nod to David Hockney and Viktor & Rolf’s shared love of dogs. Kids of all ages can watch, drawing creative direction from the well-dressed dachshunds to create their own dog-inspired 3D paper designs – artistic workshops will be run by illustrator Alice Oehr and artist group Soft Stories – with finished masterpieces to be displayed in a specially-designed ‘dog park’.
The NGV Kids Summer Festival runs for 11 days from 16 – 26 January 2017 offering a dynamic program of free activities at NGV International and The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia.
Highlights throughout the festival include: a dachshund fashion parade in the Great Hall on 16 January and on Australia Day 26 January, masquerade mask making, kids yoga, magician performances and a host of creative workshops with local artists.
NGV’s hugely popular NGV Kids Summer Festival will run for 11 days and launches on Monday 16 January, 10:30am at NGV International, 180 St Kilda Road, Melbourne.
More than 22,000 children visited last year’s festival, which has become one of the largest and most popular events on the NGV calendar. For the full program and more info, head to NGV’s website.
