A Victorian Silhouette at Melbourne Fashion Festival

As an official part of the VAMFF Arts Program, Melbourne Museum and Sovereign Hill’s Costume Department have collaborated for the first time to present ‘A Victorian Silhouette

A Victorian Silhouette will reveal 1850s ladies day wear and allow you an evening behind the boudoir door to experience the secrets of the 1850s Victorian silhouette – learn how the 1850s silhouette was built through undergarments and foundation wear. A range of styles from the 1850s will be on show, including a wedding dress

Presented in Melbourne Museum’s award-winning exhibition The Melbourne Story, these stunning costumes will be surrounded by more than 1200 objects from Museum Victoria’s heritage collection, from suburban Melbourne paraphernalia, music memorabilia and ordinary objects of a time gone by.
