New Paintings by Caleb Reid at Besser Space

An overwhelming response in Sydney to Caleb Reid’s latest artworks prompted Paddington gallery Piermarq to hit the road with Reid and present his first major solo exhibition in Melbourne.

New Paintings by Caleb Reid explores the power of the human form to express complex emotions; love, hate, desire and rapture. His intimate images are suffused with glimpses from real relationships, experiences and musings on current affairs.

Of his experimentation with process and the exploration of the relationship between creative and emotional forces, Reid says,

‘My process is playful, it’s emotive and immediate. I understand that if I set out a few paintings tomorrow, and then complete those paintings they can never, ever be replicated. Even if I set out the same canvas the day after. They are capturing a very specific moment in time.’

Beyond the Melbourne exhibition, Caleb Reid is in anticipation of his first international solo exhibition at Johanssen Gallery in Berlin.
