Solange has dropped two new videos, both co-directed with her husband Alan Ferguson. As expected, they are a stylistic feast for the eyes. She has allure in spades.
The sartorial elements of each video from Solange are rounded out by a collaborative process which often involves Mom Tina Knowles, paying respect to the inspiration she gives her daughter, by becoming an intrinsic part of the work. That bespoke element elevates both of these videos, as it brings that untouchable piece of magic. Some things, just aren’t for sale.
Cranes In The Sky
Stunning pastel pinks and subdued hues give this wistful slice of pop the cream at the top. It features Solange in a stunning baby pink coat by Nadine Gopert (Knowles discovered Gopert on Thisispaper). Look for the gold tassel bedazzled designed by Solange’s mum Tina Knowles and friend Tim White. Tina also mastered a mauve stringy bandeau creation for the video that was art directed by Carlota Guerrero.
Don’t Touch My Hair
Look out for a cameo from Sampha and a serious style nod to R&B legend Patrice Rushen in Solange’s beaded hurr department.
Throughout the video, Solange and cast can be seen wearing earrings by J.W. Anderson, clothing by 3.1 Phillip Lim, Chloé, Fendi, Acne Studios, Adrienne Landau, Tibi, tracksuits by Akademiks, bodysuits by Base Range, a bathing suit by Flagpole Swim with shoes by Mansyr Gavriel and Tibi.
Of course, Solange is a huge advocate for emerging designers – the blue choir robes worn in Don’t Touch My Hair were made by a Central Saint Martins student in London.
The new album A Seat At The Table is available now.
