MoVement Sydney 2016: 25 Parties Across One City

After a successful launch in 2015, MoVement Sydney returns on 19 October with five epic days of 25 diverse events celebrating the art of live music performance in Sydney’s thriving electronic music scene.

On the program are dance parties, live music, photography exhibitions and DJ scratch lessons to gaming events, film screenings, art exhibitions and heaps more. Highlights include the world exclusive debut of Mind Gamers, the musical brainchild of renowned artists Sebastien TellierDaniel Stricker (Midnight Juggernauts) and John Kirby (Blood Orange) and an exhibition at Goodspace Gallery by Tokyo-based Australian artist Karan Singh, but there is so much more happening, it makes our heads spin! Sugar Mountain Festival will present ‘Potluck’, an exhibition at Goodspace Gallery from renowned Tokyo-based Australian artist and illustrator Karan Singh (seen above). With OK Go animations to his credit, the exhibition marks the artist’s first ever solo exhibition in Sydney.
Sydney’s finest dance party crews and venues are involved with MoVement Sydney, El Topo will host a set from local favourite Yahtzel and Heaps Gay will celebrate its third birthday with Kimchi Princi (Live) + more. Charades will play host to Steve SpacekNO ZU joins the line-up at Picnic Presents, who have already announced a live set from Sleep D.
In 2016, the program has also expanded to include Insert Coin(s) Halloween party featuring Resident Evil 7: Biohazard – with live sets from DJ LevinsMartin Novosel (Purple Sneakers DJ’s) and Glenn B Trippin’ accompanying the arcade gaming. Agency yeahsure are hosting an exhibition at Ambush Gallery Chippendale, displaying the work of some the country’s best live music photographers. Stoney Roads are turning cinemas into dance dens with screenings and performance of Daft Punk Unchained and Human Traffic.

Back for its second year, MoVement Sydney celebrates the art of dance music, cultivating in the best live dance and electronic music performances in Sydney, at a time when the city needs it most.

Created by V Energy Australia, MoVement will celebrate with Sydney’s favourite dance party crews as well as a star studded line-up of international and local talent from 19 – 23 October, with a series of free and ticketed events.

Mind Gamers (Sebastien Tellier, Daniel Stricker (Midnight Juggernauts) & John Kirby (Blood Orange)) will make their World Exclusive Debut performance at MoVement Sydney this week for Siberia Records at xx.
