BIGSOUND 2017 programs one hundred & thirty-three Australian artists

BIGSOUND Festival have dropped the mic on an incredible lineup this year, promising a four-night sonic adventure that will set the benchmark for new live music discovery in this country.

Proving that Australia has a widely diverse pool of underground talent and innovation, the festival’s 2017 line-up is a triumph for all those excited about the future music scene.

From 5-8 September, guitar fetishists can get their fix from acts such as sleepmakeswaves, West Thebarton, WAAX and The Beautiful Monument, along with seriously electronic vibes from Confidence Man, Cub Sport, Golden Vessel and SUPERCRUEL. New generation hip hop will be represented by Manu Crook$, Thandi Phoenix and Midas.Gold, along with a strong Australian female songwriting contingent in Tia Gostelow, Caiti Baker and Washington. Whatever your taste, BIGSOUND Festival 2017 will take you across genres with their four-night program of the country’s best new acts (with each artist playing twice so that you don’t miss a thing).

Previously announced artists include Winston Surfshirt (pictured at top), Alex the Astronaut, Baker Boy, Hatchie, Mansionair, The Creases, Kardajala Kirridarra and more, making up the huge 133+ artist event.

BIGSOUND Festival programmer Maggie Collins says: “The quality of new and Australian music is currently exemplified by how hard it was to choose these artists out of approximately 1070 applications.” Believing that every artist on the lineup has something unique to showcase, Maggie says she’s “frothing over the acts and can’t wait to show them off.”

All artists on the BIGSOUND Festival bill are eligible for a share of this year’s $100,000 Levi’s Music Prize and to join the now prestigious list of BIGSOUND alumni including Flume, Courtney Barnett, RUFUS, Tash Sultana, Gang of Youths, DMAs, Kingswood, The Temper Trap, Ball Park Music, San Cisco, Boy & Bear, A.B. Original, Methyl Ethel and many more.

This year’s venue count is at 18, all within 3 blocks of each other in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley.
