Due West: Maribyrnong’s immersive arts festival starts Thursday

Due West is a celebration for lovers of music, art, performance and creative expression to engage and interact with art on the inner west side of Melbourne.

From 10 – 27 August a hugely varied line up will represent the diverse local community that thrives within the city of Maribyrnong, in some of the most unexpected venues.
Our picks of the program include:

Friday 11 August | Fridays are Better Than Mondays – a Friday night of art, music, and poetry with artist talks and exhibition by Arika Waulu, performances by T.A.Z, The CoreTet, and The Hacketts as well as a spoken word showcase including Soreti Kadir, Aisha Trambas, and Piriye Altraide

Saturday 12 August | West Projections Festival Opening Party – a line up of artists, performances and projections all exploring the 2017 theme of Synthesis, and DJ Yeo will bring house party vibes to Littlefoot Bar with free entry – listen to Yeo’s latest single here:

Wednesday 16 August | The Trip To Spain Immersive Dining Experience by Copper Pot Seddon – Sun Theatre
Yarraville’s iconic Sun Theatre is partnering with western suburbs gem Copper Pot Seddon to present the new release of Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon’s epicurean trilogy. Copper Pot Seddon will present a curated Spanish food and beverage road trip, matching the film’s journey bite by bite.

Saturday 26 August | The Night Circus by Women’s Circus, Dream Factory 
A moving performance across three iconic Footscray sites, with aerial performers, a power house troupe of aged, idiosyncratic circus women and a factory site brought to life with a choir.

Sunday 27 August | Due West Closing Night Party, L5 Byron Street Carpark, Footscray 
Celebrate the close of a very special festival! With projections, live music and special performances. Sip mulled wine in the heart of Footscray while watching gorgeous city views.
